Creators can build massive audiences without owning the relationship.
Platforms like Spotify, YouTube and TikTok provide enormous reach, but the relationship between creators and their most loyal supporters can remain distant. Filmedia explored whether that relationship could become more direct, visible and meaningful.
What if supporting a creator meant more than accessing their content?
Instead of treating subscriptions as a simple payment for access, I explored a model where fans could subscribe directly to individual creators and build a visible history of support.
We moved from platform-first consumption to creator-first relationships.
Music remained the starting point, while podcasts, short-form video and events expanded the model. The creator became the centre of the experience, with content, subscriptions and fan identity built around that relationship.
A subscription could represent a relationship, not just access.
We explored Soulbound NFTs as persistent proof of support. Because they couldn't be transferred or sold, their value came from the relationship they represented rather than speculation and a loyalty meter then made that history visible to the fan.
Becoming a Filmedia user shouldn't require understanding crypto.
We explored multiple payment methods so users could participate without needing to learn about wallets or blockchain transactions first. Web3 could support the underlying relationship without becoming the barrier to entering it.
We gave fans visibility, but creators needed the same transparency.
The concept needed a creator dashboard for subscriptions, engagement, revenue and content activity. We didn't have enough time to build it, so the creator tooling remained one of the clearest areas for future development.
Filmedia made creator relationships feel more direct and tangible.
The concept connected content, subscriptions and fan identity into one experience while exploring how Web3 could support the relationship without dominating it.
In future, I'd validate the relationship before building more technology.
I'd test whether creators want direct subscriptions, whether fans value visible loyalty and which payment model feels natural.
Only then would I invest further in the Web3 mechanics.
